HOW WE BEGAN
They say that little boys never grow up; it’s just their toys that get bigger. And you know… they’re right, at least by me. So in the fall of 2009 when WiRED Properties LLC needed help to build The Cornerstone in Shorewood, Marshall Engineers, LLC was formed and I got to play with the big trucks, the excavators and the cranes in the mud, the snow and the rain… and I loved it.
When I was in high school, Dad would “drag” me into the office to “help” him with his estimating. On the weekends “we’d” inspect “his” buildings. Whenever we passed a building that he had worked on it was “his” building. He took pride in what he did. He signed his work. We all should.
We broke ground for The Cornerstone in December of 2009. The Cornerstone is a 70,000 square foot; four story mixed used building with underground parking, first floor retail and upper level luxury apartments. First occupancy occurred in October of 2010. The Cornerstone won a First Place Award for the Best Public/Private Partnership in The Business Journal’s 2011 Real Estate Awards Program.
Marshall Engineers, LLC continues today as a boutique construction management engineering consulting firm providing preconstruction, construction and post construction management services on a project by project ala cart basis for owners, architects, contractors and related industry partners.
We recently completed Ravenna, a 72,000 square foot mixed use building with underground parking in Shorewood, WI. (www.ravennashorewood.com). Marshall Engineers, LLC provided selected project management and superintendent services for this project.
